Richard, Zachary

Zachary Richard, one of the most prominent French-speaking singer-songwriter-poets in the world, was born in Louisiana in 1950. He has recorded 16 albums. In Canada, five albums were gold with a double platinum (Cap Enragé).

Zachary’s predominately Francophone career has earned him numerous prestigious awards. He is cited to be an honorary Member of the Order of Canada “for his contributions as an author, composer, singer and poet, and for his important role in defending and promoting the French language and the “Cadian” and Acadian identity”. He has three honorary doctorates from three universities: Université de Moncton (New Brunswick), the University of Louisiana (Lafayette) and Saint Anne’s University (Nova Scotia).
